Match report

## Match Overview **Competition:** CAF Confederation Cup – 1st Preliminary Round **Date:** 6 September 2026 **Result:** Masr 4-0 ASAS --- ## Match Analysis Masr secured a comprehensive victory over ASAS with a 4-0 scoreline in the first preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup. The hosts opened the scoring in the 21st minute and maintained their dominance throughout the contest. The second goal came just before half-time in the 44th minute, giving Masr a two-goal cushion at the break. This early advantage allowed the home side to control the tempo of the match. ASAS struggled to find any momentum after falling behind twice before the interval. The visitors failed to register any meaningful chances and looked increasingly disjointed as the first half progressed. The third goal arrived in the 87th minute, extending Masr's lead and effectively ending any hopes of a comeback. The hosts continued to press forward, looking for more goals in the closing stages. A fourth and final goal was scored in the 90+1 minute, completing a convincing performance from Masr. The result gives them a substantial advantage heading into the second leg. --- ## Recent Form Context Masr's victory follows a mixed run of results. Their most recent match was a narrow 1-0 win against El-Gaish on 1 September 2026, marking their first victory in five matches. Prior to that, they suffered a 0-2 defeat to Al-Ahly on 28 August. The Egyptian side had shown resilience with a 0-0 draw against Wadi Degla on 21 August and a comfortable 2-0 victory over the same opponents on 8 June. However, they ended their previous campaign with a 0-1 loss to Al-Masry on 1 June. ASAS's recent form has been equally inconsistent. Their last documented fixture was a 1-1 draw with Étoile Filante on 27 September 2025. They followed this with another goalless draw against the same opposition a week earlier. The Moroccan club's previous results include a 0-1 defeat to Red Arrows on 16 July 2024, a 1-1 draw with Gor Mahia on 13 July, and a 0-2 loss to Al-Hilal Omdurman on 10 July 2024. --- ## Key Takeaways Masr's performance demonstrates their ability to control matches and convert chances into goals. Scoring four goals without reply suggests they created multiple opportunities and were clinical in their finishing. The timing of the goals—two in each half—indicates consistent pressure rather than a single burst of activity. This pattern of scoring suggests good tactical preparation and execution. For ASAS, the defeat represents another challenging result in their recent history. The clean sheet was not achieved, and they will need to regroup significantly before the return fixture. --- *Report compiled from available match data.*
