Alisson Becker fined £8,000 for kicking board after Forest draw

Alisson Becker has been fined £8,000 by the Football Association for kicking the fourth official's substitution board after Liverpool's 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest on 29 August.

Morgan Gibbs-White converted from the spot in the 70th minute, and Víctor Muñoz's equaliser was needed to salvage a point for Andoni Iraola's side. Alisson was still furious at full time and struck the board on his way down the tunnel.

The FA statement was brief: "Liverpool's Alisson Becker has been fined £8,000 for misconduct at the Premier League fixture against Nottingham Forest on 29 August. It was alleged that the goalkeeper acted in an improper manner around the tunnel area after the final whistle. Alisson Becker has subsequently accepted the charge against him and received the Standard penalty."

The Premier League's Key Match Incidents Panel has since ruled the penalty should not have been given, voting 3:2 that referee Sam Barrott got the decision wrong, while backing VAR Michael Oliver's call not to send him to the pitchside monitor by 5:0. That finding does not undo the fine, but it explains why Alisson felt so aggrieved in the moment.

There is no ban attached to the charge, so Alisson keeps his place for Liverpool's visit from Fulham at Anfield on Saturday, then a Carabao Cup third-round tie against Tottenham the following Tuesday.
