Carragher Tips Liverpool to Target Bournemouth's Alex Scott and Rayan

Jamie Carragher has pointed to Bournemouth's Alex Scott and Rayan as players Liverpool could target because of Andoni Iraola's history with both. He was speaking on Sky Sports after Liverpool's 1-0 win at the Vitality Stadium, where Darwin Nunez scored the only goal.

On Scott, Carragher said: "I think he's a wonderful player. There was a lot of interest in him in the summer and because Liverpool have a former Bournemouth manager, you almost think: will there be a link or will there be a couple of players moving that way?"

He was just as warm about Rayan, who was in Brazil's World Cup squad. "I thought Rayan was fantastic last season as well. A midweek goal will have done him the world of good after a quiet start."

Iraola left Bournemouth for Anfield in the summer after three years in charge. In his last season he took the club into Europe for the first time, with both players among his leading performers.

Scott is 23 and scored four goals with one assist in 39 appearances last season. Journalist Ekrem Konur has reported that Liverpool are among the clubs interested, alongside Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham. His contract runs to the summer of 2028. Bournemouth held on to him this summer despite links with Chelsea and United.

Bournemouth have sold a top player every year. Antoine Semenyo went last season, and Milos Kerkez moved to Liverpool the year before, having shone under Iraola.

Liverpool's recent recruitment has also looked elsewhere. Brighton rejected bids of up to £60m for winger Yankuba Minteh earlier this month.

If Liverpool do move for Scott, his contract gives Bournemouth the leverage. They have shown they will refuse offers they consider too low, so a deal would probably depend on price. Rayan's early-season form is the question mark Carragher raised himself.
