Arda Güler agrees new Real Madrid contract until 2032

Real Madrid have agreed a new contract with Arda Güler that will run until June 2032, according to Fabrizio Romano, who said the Turkish midfielder has already given his consent to the deal.

Romano extended the term by a year, up from AS’s reported 2031 deadline.

Spanish outlet AS had described talks over a deal running to the summer of 2031, with the club looking to raise Güler's wages in line with his growing role in the first team.

Under Xabi Alonso and Álvaro Arbeloa he operated mainly through the middle; this season Alonso has fielded him on the right of the attack, a position he knows from his time at Fenerbahçe. Güler has one goal and one assist in four matches so far and has done enough to keep first-team competition tight.

He joined Real Madrid from Fenerbahçe in the summer of 2023, having come through the academy at Gençlerbirliği. Since then he has made 116 appearances for the club, scoring 19 goals and setting up 26 more.

As recently as 15 months ago Güler's long-term future at the club looked uncertain; his performances since have changed that calculation, and Madrid now regard the contract as a way of protecting his position should other clubs come calling.

The timing sits alongside a mixed start to the season for Alonso's side, whose unbeaten run in the league ended with a 1-0 defeat at Betis on 5 September.
