FC Porto returned to the Champions League with a 0-2 defeat at home to Manchester City and finished the match without a single shot on target.

The Dragão side had five attempts, all of them in the second half, but none troubled Gianluigi Donnarumma. The City goalkeeper, who has yet to concede from open play since joining the club in September 2025, did not have to make a single save all evening.

Porto felt they’d been competitive despite the scoreline. That reading sat awkwardly with the numbers: eight actions inside the opponents' box in total, and, according to Record, no shot on target in a European fixture for the first time since 2017.

The gulf showed in the detail rather than the score. Porto pressed and worked their way into City's half often enough, but the end product never arrived.
