Thiago Silva Disagrees With Ancelotti's Brazil Rebuild

Thiago Silva has said he does not agree with Dorival Júnior's decision to overhaul Brazil's squad after the World Cup, though he stopped short of open defiance of the head coach.

Speaking to Rádio Tupi, he argued that age should not be the deciding factor when picking a national side.

Brazil went out in the last 16 at the World Cup, and Ancelotti has since moved to bring in younger players as he builds towards the next cycle. Silva, who himself was in contention for a World Cup place at 41, said the Italian's approach reflects habits formed in club football that do not transfer easily to international management.

Silva remains a regular for Fluminense, for whom he has scored three goals since joining in August 2024. He was on the pitch in midweek as Fluminense beat Platense 2-0 in the first leg of their Copa Libertadores quarter-final, and it was after that match that he turned to the subject of the national team.

If Ancelotti presses on with the rebuild regardless, the comments set up a public difference of view between the coach and Silva, even as he insisted the final say rests with the man in charge.
