CSKA Hope Akinfeev Returns Before Year's End

CSKA Moscow's club doctor, Eduard Bezuglov, said the club still expects captain Igor Akinfeev to return to action before the end of the year, though no firm date has been set for his comeback.

"There is no clarity yet on the timeline. Everything is going to plan for now, he is working in the gym, and we expect him to move on to work on the pitch in the near future. We do expect it this year, of course," Bezuglov told TASS.

Akinfeev has not featured in an official match since 4 April, when he was injured during a 2:1 Russian Premier League win over Akron.

Bezuglov also gave updates on three other CSKA players. Moisés is recovering from surgery in Brazil and is expected to rejoin the squad in about a month and a half. Milan Gajić is due to have an operation next week, and Dmitri Barinov, who joined CSKA in February 2026 and has scored once for the club, is set to return to Moscow next week following his own surgery.
