Manchester City have lodged an appeal against the independent commission verdict in the Premier League financial rules case. The club said it submitted the appeal at 7pm on Thursday 1 October 2026 and maintained that the decision contains material errors of law, principle and fact.

The commission found City guilty of serious breaches between 2009/10 and 2017/18, including sham commercial contracts that artificially inflated revenue. Sky Sports reported that Premier League appeal rules introduced this season set a 12-week process and a maximum five-day hearing.
