Andreas Schjelderup

Andreas Schjelderup put Norway ahead in the 36th minute of their World Cup quarter-final against England on 11 July 2026, even though England came back to win 2-1 after extra time.

He broke into the first team at Nordsjælland in 2021, and by the time Benfica signed him in January 2023 he had scored 17 goals in 56 matches for the Danish club. The move to Lisbon came mid-season, and Schjelderup finished that campaign with a Portuguese championship medal without playing a single match in the league. Benfica then sent him back to Nordsjælland on loan for 2023/24, where he scored 9 goals in 26 games and was named the best player of the spring in the Danish Superliga.

Since returning to Lisbon permanently in 2023, he has become a regular in Benfica's attack, making over 90 appearances and scoring 16 goals for the first team. He has won the Taça da Liga (2024/25) and the Supertaça twice, in 2023 and 2025, and helped Benfica top their group at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup by beating Bayern Munich 1-0. April 2026 brought individual honours in the Primeira Liga, with Schjelderup named the league's player of the month and best young player of the month.

Schjelderup made his Norway debut on 5 June 2024 and has since won 18 caps, scoring twice — the first in a 1-2 friendly defeat to the Netherlands on 27 March 2026, the second that opener against England in July.
