Calhanoglu sidelined for Inter's clash with Udinese

Adductor fatigue rules Calhanoglu out of Inter's squad against Udinese, with Chivu shifting to a Barella-Zielinski-Mkhitaryan midfield trio.

Inter midfielder Çalhanoğlu in blue and black kit runs on the pitch with blurred stadium stands behind him.

Hakan Calhanoglu is missing from Inter's squad for Monday evening's Serie A visit of Udinese, left out by Cristian Chivu because of adductor fatigue, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The problem is not expected to keep him out for long. Calhanoglu will be assessed day by day, though his availability for Saturday's game against Roma remains unclear.

With Calhanoglu unavailable, Chivu has turned to a midfield trio of Nicolo Barella, Piotr Zielinski and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, with Zielinski expected to sit deepest of the three. Inter line up in a 3-5-2 with Josep Martinez in goal and Manuel Akanji, John Stones and Alessandro Bastoni across the back three, Andy Diouf and Carlos Augusto providing the width, and Francesco Esposito partnering Marcus Thuram up front.

Udinese arrive in Milan 11th in the table on 4 points from 3 matches. Coach Kosta Runjaic sets his side up in a 3-4-2-1, with Jurgen Ekkelenkamp — the club's joint-top scorer this season with 3 goals, level with Arthur Atta — playing behind Keinan Davis alongside Unai Gomez. Maduka Okoye starts in goal behind a back three of James Abankwah, Christian Kabasele and Enzo Ebosse.

Inter come into the match on a roll, and Chivu will be hoping the reshuffled midfield is enough to keep it going before Calhanoglu's fitness is reassessed ahead of the Roma fixture.
