Dortmund Rule Out Third Spell for Jadon Sancho

Borussia Dortmund have ruled out a third spell for Jadon Sancho, according to the Mirror. The decision, taken by head coach Niko Kovac, closes off the route many had expected the winger to take after leaving Manchester United this summer.

Speaking before Dortmund's 3-0 win over SC Paderborn, Kovac said: "I think we had a really good transfer summer. We're very well positioned. The squad is already very large. We have 26 outfield players, many of them Young. Therefore, we don't need to concern ourselves with that."

An injury to Giannis Konstantelias had revived talk of a return for Sancho, with the 26-year-old still a free agent since his United contract expired. Dortmund instead brought in Ethan Nwaneri on loan from Arsenal to cover the gap.

United paid £73m for Sancho in 2021 and got 83 appearances, 12 goals and six assists in return over five years. Loan spells at Dortmund, Chelsea and Aston Villa followed without a permanent move materialising anywhere; Chelsea paid a £5m penalty to send him back to Old Trafford in 2025 rather than trigger their obligation to buy. He has since joined Aston Villa, for whom he has scored once.

Sancho went unsigned through the summer window despite his free-agent status, and Dortmund's statement leaves one fewer door open. Transfermarkt values him at €18m — a fraction of the fee United paid five years ago.
