Marcelo Brozović joins Al-Sadd as free agent
The Croatia midfielder left Al-Nassr to sign with Qatar's Al-Sadd on a deal to June 2027, turning down Juventus, Lazio and Fiorentina interest.
Marcelo Brozović has signed for Al-Sadd of Qatar as a free agent, with the deal running to 30 June 2027 and an option for a further season, according to journalist Nicolò Schira. Reports put his salary at €6m a year plus bonuses.
The move ends a spell in Saudi Arabia. Brozović had been at Al-Nassr since 2023, his contract there expiring on 30 June, and, scoring once and adding five assists.
Juventus, Lazio and Fiorentina were among the clubs credited with interest in the 33-year-old this summer, alongside Saudi side Al-Ittihad and Trabzonspor of Turkey. He chose Qatar instead.
Brozović made his name at Inter, where he spent eight years from 2015 to 2023, winning the Serie A title, two Coppa Italia and two Italian Super Cups, and reaching the 2022/23 Champions League final. Before that he had come through Hrvatski Dragovoljac, Lokomotiva and Dinamo Zagreb.
He has won 99 caps for Croatia, scoring seven goals, and holds a World Cup runners-up medal from 2018 and a bronze from the 2022 tournament in Qatar — the country where he will now be playing his club football.
