Bologna set to sack Domenico Tedesco, eye Palladino

Bologna are on the point of sacking Domenico Tedesco after just four Serie A matches, with Raffaele Palladino lined up as his successor. According to Sky Sport Italia and the insider Gianluca Di Marzio, the club's hierarchy had initially been ready to give more time but changed course in the past few hours.

Tedesco had taken over in the summer on a two-year deal with an option for a third season, succeeding Vahid Halilhodžić. It has not worked out. Bologna sit sixteenth after losses to Lazio, Atalanta and Napoli — he was suspended for the Napoli match — and a stoppage-time equaliser from Artem Dovbyk was the only point he has taken from four games. It was Tedesco's first job since leaving Fenerbahçe.

Palladino arrives with Serie A pedigree built at three different clubs. He made his name at Monza before qualifying for the Conference League with Fiorentina, then took charge of Atalanta in November 2023 after Ivan Juric's departure and led them into the Champions League last 16 — the only Italian side to reach that stage — as well as another Conference League qualification. He had been out of work since leaving Bergamo at the end of last season.

He is no stranger to Bologna. As a manager he has faced the rossoblù eight times, winning three, drawing two and losing three, and he scored against them as a player in 2014 while at Parma.

If confirmed, the change would end Tedesco's Bologna spell after a brief spell, and hand Palladino the task of lifting a side that has yet to win in the league this season.
