Lamine Yamal Breaks Vinícius Júnior's La Liga Assist Record

Yamal reached 50 career assists at 19 years and 68 days, the youngest in La Liga history, after setting up two goals in Barcelona's 3-1 win over Sevilla.

Lamine Yamal set up both of Raphinha's first two goals as Barcelona beat Sevilla 3-1 in La Liga's 7th round, and the second assist made him the youngest player in the competition to reach 50 for his career.

Yamal got there at 19 years and 68 days. The previous mark belonged to Vinícius Júnior, who reached 50 assists for Real Madrid in May 2023 at 22 years and 298 days, according to Opta.

The 19-year-old Barcelona winger now has 51 assists in 159 appearances in all competitions, to go with 57 goals.

Yamal has been on a run of record-setting form this month. On 9 September he set up Raphinha's opener in a 5-1 Champions League win over Feyenoord, taking his goal involvements past Kylian Mbappe's teenage mark of 20. Two days later, Spain coach Luis de la Fuente praised his tactical intelligence and versatility.

Vinícius, for his part, has 106 goals for Real Madrid since joining in September 2020 and remains a leading figure at the Bernabeu, where Real sit 2nd in La Liga after beating Rayo Vallecano 4-1 at the weekend.
