Anguissa Sidelined Again With New Adductor Injury
Napoli confirmed the Cameroon midfielder suffered a fresh low-grade adductor strain minutes after returning against Fiorentina, with recovery hopes set on the Frosinone match.
The Cameroon midfielder had missed the win over Bologna and the Champions League defeat to Arsenal earlier this month with an issue in the same area, and only returned to the squad in Florence. Massimiliano Allegri sent him on for Stanislav Lobotka in the 90th minute at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
Napoli examined Anguissa on Tuesday at the Pineta Grande Hospital. The club described a low-grade myofascial injury to the adductor longus of his right thigh, by their own account already under treatment through rehabilitation.
The draw leaves Napoli 9th in Serie A, their worst start to a league campaign in eight years, though two of their five fixtures so far have come away to Como and to reigning champions Inter. A three-week international break now falls before Napoli's next match, against Frosinone on 10 October, and early indications are that Anguissa could be fit for that fixture.
