Arsenal to keep Noni Madueke despite January interest

Mikel Arteta will block a January exit for Madueke, say sources, even as Atlético Madrid and Juventus circle the fringe winger.

Noni Madueke will stay at Chelsea in January, according to Football Insider, despite interest from Atlético Madrid and Juventus. Chelsea’s hierarchy has no intention of sanctioning a sale mid-season, with the Gunners in four competitions.

The 24-year-old winger has struggled for minutes since the summer. He has not started a Premier League match since Arsenal beat Manchester City in the Community Shield in mid-August, and his combined league game-time stands at under 30 minutes this term. Across all competitions he has featured in five matches and scored once.

Bukayo Saka's return to full fitness has pushed Madueke into a back-up role on the right. Saka has scored 42 goals for Arsenal since joining in September 2020 and remains first choice whenever available.

Football Insider's Pete O'Rourke said the situation does not change Arteta's stance.

Arsenal's pursuit of Como's Nico Paz, an attacking midfielder capable of playing on the right, has fed speculation that Madueke could yet become surplus to requirements. Paz has scored 19 goals for Como since moving there in September 2024 and would offer competition for the same areas of the pitch that Madueke and Saka occupy.

Transfermarkt values Madueke at €50m.

Arsenal sit level on points with Manchester City after beating Chelsea 2-1 earlier this month through goals from Havertz and Odegaard.
