Manchester United have made Antonio Conte their first-choice replacement for Michael Carrick, according to reports in Italy picked up by The Sun. Any move depends on INEOS deciding to change manager.

United have won 2, drawn 2 and lost 3 of their 7 games in all competitions this season. Calciomercato describe Conte as the hot favourite among the club's hierarchy to steer them out of trouble.

Conte, 57, has been a free agent since the summer, when he left Napoli by mutual consent a year before his contract ended.
