Alexander Djiku picks up injury vs Côte d'Ivoire
The Spartak defender was hurt after a first-half tackle in Ghana's 0-2 qualifying loss and says he'll do all he can to be fit for Gambia.
Alexander Djiku left the field with a knock during Ghana's 0-2 qualifying defeat to Côte d'Ivoire and said he will do everything he can to be fit for the next fixture.
"I felt pain, but that had already happened three weeks ago, and I wanted to be with the national team. After a tackle in the first half I felt discomfort. We'll see how I recover tomorrow. I'll do everything to be ready for the next game," Djiku said.
The 32-year-old Spartak defender has won 0 goals in his caps for Ghana since joining the squad in November 2022. Ghana's next Africa Cup of Nations qualifier comes against Gambia on 29 September.
Whether Djiku recovers in time may decide who lines up at the back for Ghana in that match.
