Montenegro beat Armenia 3-2 as Latković wins it late
Aleksa Latković scored on 89 minutes to give Montenegro a 3-2 win in Yerevan and top spot in Nations League Group 2 after Armenia twice pulled level.
Montenegro beat Armenia 3-2 in Yerevan on Monday, with Aleksa Latković scoring the winner on 89 minutes in the second round of League C Group 2 in the Nations League.
Montenegro went ahead on 20 minutes when Erik Piloyan put the ball into his own net. Artur Serobyan levelled on 34, and Nikola Krstović restored the lead four minutes later. Eduard Spertsyan made it 2-2 on 65.
Latković is a 25-year-old midfielder who plays his club football for Varaždin. Krstović, 26, is a forward.
The numbers were close. Armenia had 54% of the ball, Montenegro 46%. Both sides put four shots on target. Montenegro won the corners 4-2 and had two more efforts off target, 5 to 3.
Montenegro have 6 points from two games and lead the group. Armenia have 3 and are second. On 2 October Montenegro travel to Latvia, and Armenia go to Cyprus.
If Montenegro win in Latvia, they would go into the later rounds with a clear gap over a side that has now lost a game after twice pulling level.
