Sweden beat Poland as Lewandowski watches from bench
Graham Potter's Sweden won 3-1 in Solna to make it two from two in Nations League Group B4, with Lewandowski only appearing in the 88th minute.
Sweden made it two wins from two in Group B4 of the Nations League, beating Poland 3-1 in Solna to sit on 6 points from 6. On Friday Graham Potter's side had already won at home against Romania (2-1).
Poland manager Jan Urban left Robert Lewandowski on the bench and only brought him on in the 88th minute, with the match already settled. Poland sit third with one point, after opening the campaign with a 0-0 draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina in Warsaw.
Sweden were without Alexander Isak, who was injured against Romania after scoring, but still took the lead in the 8th minute through a Benjamin Nygren header at the far post. Sebastian Szymanski levelled just before half-time with a shot that came off both posts before going in, on 43 minutes.
The second half turned Sweden's way. Yasin Ayari struck with a curled effort from a corner on 64 minutes, and Viktor Gyökeres added a third with a first-time finish from close range on 72 minutes.
Lewandowski had barely any time to try to rescue a point, but in the 90th minute he came close, hitting the crossbar. In stoppage time the former Barcelona forward, now at Chicago Fire, was booked for a foul.
