Man Utd's Injury List Grows to Six Before Spurs Clash

Manchester United's injury list grew to six over the international break, with Noussair Mazraoui the latest to go down while on duty with Morocco.

Mazraoui was forced off in the 68th minute of Morocco's 2-0 win over Lesotho on Tuesday, an Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture. The 28-year-old full-back landed awkwardly after diving into a tackle, held his lower back and signalled to the bench before being replaced by Achraf Hakimi. Morocco manager Mohamed Ouahbi did not comment on the injury afterwards. Morocco sit top of that qualifying group on 6 points from 2 matches.

It follows a difficult weekend for United captain Bruno Fernandes, who withdrew from Portugal's squad for the game against Norway with what manager Jorge Jesus called a complicated shin problem.

Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo also pulled out of Thomas Tuchel's England squad last week with minor knocks picked up during United's 1-1 draw with Fulham, while Patrick Dorgu returned from Denmark duty with a hamstring injury and Benjamin Sesko is carrying a problem Michael Carrick has described as not looking good.

Carrick already had five first-team players sidelined before Mazraoui's issue emerged, and United host fellow strugglers Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on 10 October following a start to the season that has brought five points from five Premier League fixtures and a third-round exit from the Carabao Cup. If Fernandes, Mazraoui and the others are not fit in time, Carrick could go into that fixture with a squad missing much of his first-choice spine.
