About the player
Áki Johannesen came through the youth ranks at B68 Toftir, the club in his home town on Eskoy, and made his first-team debut there in 2020. He stayed at B68 for five seasons, settling into a regular defensive role by 2021, when he made 27 appearances and scored twice. Over his time at the club he made 91 appearances and scored five goals across all competitions.
In January 2025 Johannesen moved to HB Tórshavn. He was a regular fixture in defence in his first season, making nine league appearances. His form continued into 2026, when he made 14 league appearances plus two in HB's qualifying campaign for the UEFA Conference League. He has not won a league title with either club: Víkingur took the championship in 2024, and HB finished as runners-up in 2025.
Johannesen has represented the Faroe Islands at under-21 level. He was first called up in August 2021 for qualifiers for the European U21 Championship, coming on as a substitute against France in March 2022. He started against Greece's U21 side later that year and was called up again in June 2023 for a fixture against Andorra's U21 team. He has not been capped by the senior national side.
