About the player
Amar Dedić moved through some of Europe's most demanding dressing rooms. A loan at Olympique de Marseille in the first half of 2025 was followed within months by a permanent move to Benfica, and by August 2026 Newcastle United had agreed a £29.5m fee to take him to the Premier League on a five-year contract.
That system shaped him from childhood. After starting out at LUV Graz and Sturm Graz, Dedić joined Red Bull Salzburg's academy and made his first-team debut at just 16. He made early appearances for the senior team, and by 2022/23 he had become a regular starter as Salzburg won the Austrian championship, one of 60 Bundesliga appearances he made for the club. A loan at Wolfsberger AC also brought him 32 games in the Austrian top flight.
At Marseille, his loan spell produced ten Ligue 1 appearances and an assist against Saint-Étienne. Benfica, where he signed permanently that summer, gave him more regular football still: 25 appearances across all competitions and a goal, before Newcastle's move arrived.
For Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dedić has 31 caps and one goal, scored against Iceland during qualifying for Euro 2024.
