About the player
For seven months between August 2022 and January 2023, Carlos Morales was not a footballer. He worked as a palero on a building site alongside his father, and went to seven trials looking for a club. The eighth door opened at Deportes Iberia, where he played 25 matches and scored twice.
Before that, the path had looked more conventional. Morales came through the Universidad Católica academy without making a first-team appearance, and was sent out on loan to General Velásquez, where he made his debut on 21 April 2019. A loan at Deportes Copiapó followed in 2020, then Rodelindo Román in 2021 and Colchagua in 2022 — the spell that ended with the building site.
He joined Deportes Limache in January 2024 and was part of the side that won the Primera B that season, taking the club up to the Primera División. When Limache cut their budget after a difficult year in the top flight, Morales was loaned to Deportes Concepción, who went up themselves in December 2025. He returned to Limache for 2026.
His first professional goal arrived on 11 May 2026. Sent on as a substitute in a Copa Chile de la Liga tie against O'Higgins, he scored on 50 minutes to make it 1-1. In the league season he has registered one assist and no goals.
During his first year at Limache his daughter was born and spent 11 days in intensive care; the coach, Víctor Rivero, gave him time away to be with his family.
