About the player
Carlos Orejuela's first senior season at Mushuc Runa in 2016 already hinted at more than the usual midfield contribution. That early form carried him to Emelec in January 2017, where he won the Ecuadorian championship in his debut year.
He joined Deportivo Cuenca in 2021 as a free agent. The following year took him to Brazil, first with Ferroviária and then Chapecoense, before a spell in Ecuador's lower profile again with Azuriz and Vargas Torres in 2024.
It was a second stint at Mushuc Runa, taken up in 2025, that produced the clearest highlight of his career. Orejuela scored the club's first-ever goal in the Copa Sudamericana and was on the scoresheet again as Mushuc Runa beat Brazil's Cruzeiro, a result that stood out in the club's history in that competition. Across that Sudamericana campaign he scored four goals in eight matches, finishing among the club's leading scorers in the tournament, to go with four goals in 24 league appearances that season.
He opened 2026 with Mushuc Runa once more, playing 11 league matches and scoring once, before moving to Libertad FC in August 2026.
