About the player
Rubin Kazan paid €1.6 million with a 15% sell-on clause to bring Denil Maldonado from Universitatea Craiova in July 2025, on a four-year contract.
The centre-back made his senior debut for the club in 2015. He collected six Honduran league titles along the way — Apertura in 2017, 2018 and 2019, Clausura in 2017, 2019 and 2022.
Pachuca in Mexico held his registration and sent him out twice, in 2020 and 2023. In 2023 he had a spell at Los Angeles FC, 21 appearances and a goal.
Maldonado arrived at Universitatea Craiova on loan from Pachuca in January 2023 and played 33 matches in his first full season there.
He has been a fixture for Honduras since his debut against Puerto Rico in September 2019, reaching 43 caps and one goal by July 2025. At Rubin he wears the number 3.
