About the player
The move to Romania lasted barely two months. Antoniou signed for FC Argeș Pitești on a free transfer in June 2026, never appeared in a competitive match for the club, and terminated his contract in August. He returned to AEL Limassol, where he had joined the youth set-up in 2014.
His first senior season at AEL, in 2020–21, ran alongside a loan at Kouris Erimis that brought him 13 appearances. A free transfer took him to Panathinaikos B, where he played 35 matches over two seasons. The spell at AD Ceuta in 2023 produced none at all. AEZ Zakakiou then gave him a full campaign of 32 games.
APOEL Nicosia signed him on a free transfer in July 2024, shortly after the club had secured the 2023–24 Cypriot First Division. He made 11 league appearances in Nicosia before a loan to Omonia Aradippou, where he played 12 times, and he was back at APOEL in January 2025. In UEFA competition for APOEL he wore 33.
Cyprus had used him at under-16, under-17, under-19 and under-21 level before the senior call came. He made his debut on 30 March 2026 in a 3–2 friendly win over Moldova, and won his second cap on 4 June in a UEFA Nations League draw with Slovenia.
The pattern of his career so far is one of short stays. AEL, the club that raised him, is the one he has now joined twice.
