About the player
Igor Stefanović keeps goal for Leixões SC, a club he joined in 2019 and whose faith in him has since stretched his contract out to 2027.
He started out at Radnički Niš, making his first-team debut there in 2004, before a run through Serbian football took him to Zemun, Voždovac and Banat. A move to North Macedonia's Rabotnički in 2011 opened the door to Portugal, where he has spent most of his career since: Santa Clara, Porto's B team, a loan at Arouca, then spells at Chaves and Moreirense. A brief detour to Spain's Segunda División with Córdoba interrupted that run before he returned to Portugal for good.
The clearest mark on his record came at Moreirense, where he won the Taça da Liga in the 2016/17 season.
Born in Svrljig, Stefanović represented Serbia at youth level, earning seven caps split between the under-19 and under-21 sides. He has since taken Portuguese nationality, the country where he built the bulk of his career.
