Josefine Henriette Karoline Engueleguele Birkelund

Josefine Birkelund's move to Brann in July 2025 was reported as a record transfer fee for Lyn's women's team, though the sum was not disclosed. She signed a contract running to the end of 2029, having played for Lyn since her senior debut in 2021.

She began in the youth ranks at Heming and joined Lyn's youth setup in 2020. In Oslo she went on to make somewhere between 43 and 46 senior appearances and scored two or three goals. A right back, she has spent much of her career recovering rather than playing: she ruptured a cruciate ligament in the 2021/2022 season and did so again in 2023/2024.

Each injury came at a stage when a young defender is normally building a regular place in the side. Her club's own report on the deal is where the record fee was noted.

Her international record is at youth level. She won three caps for the Norway U16 side in 2020 and, since 2024, has made roughly eight to ten appearances for the U23s without scoring. She has been called up to U23 training camps, and has not yet played for the senior national team.

At Brann she is a right-footed full-back with four years on her contract.
