About the player
Aberdeen never quite recovered from the night Josh Campbell scored a hat-trick. On 28 January 2023, the Hibernian midfielder scored a hat-trick as his side won 6-0. Aberdeen manager Jim Goodwin was sacked after the result.
Campbell came through Hibernian's academy and signed his first professional contract with the club in 2019. He spent the second half of that year on loan at Airdrieonians, playing 14 league matches without scoring, then moved to Arbroath in August 2019 for a further nine league appearances. He spent time on loan at Edinburgh City from September 2020.
Back at Hibernian, he established himself as a regular in midfield.
