About the player
Joel Lotvonen came through the youth ranks at Ajax Sarkkiranta, a club in the Oulu region, before moving on to JS Hercules. There, across the 2023 and 2024 seasons, he made close to twenty appearances a year in the Kakkonen and scored three goals. In January 2025 he moved to OLS Oulu, the Ykkönen side that operates as a reserve team linked with AC Oulu, on a free transfer. It proved a productive spell: Lotvonen made 38 appearances for OLS and scored nine goals.
In December 2025 the club announced Lotvonen had signed a two-year contract, a move that amounted to a promotion from the reserve structure into the first team rather than a transfer from outside. He had already had a taste of senior cup football, appearing for AC Oulu against HJK in the Suomen Cup in August 2025.
His Veikkausliiga debut followed in 2026, among them an appearance against FC Inter Turku on 18 September, when he was brought on for 14 minutes.
