Jearl Erwin Margaritha

In the summer of 2023 Margaritha turned down interest from AZ Alkmaar, FC Twente, Vitesse and Heracles Almelo and signed instead for Sabah FC in the Azerbaijan Premier League. The move brought him 18 appearances and no goals. His contract was terminated a year later.

The scoring had come easily enough before that. Raised in the youth systems of FC Groningen, GVAV Rapiditas and FC Emmen, he made his senior debut at VV Hoogeveen in 2019–20 and scored 11 goals in 13 appearances. A free transfer took him to Almere City FC, where he played nine times and scored once, and in August 2021 another free transfer took him to TOP Oss. Two seasons there produced 63 appearances and 19 goals. It was interrupted in late 2022, when coach Kristof Aelbrecht suspended him for disciplinary reasons. He returned in January 2023 and scored on his first game back.

After Azerbaijan he crossed to the USL Championship, joining Phoenix Rising FC on a free transfer in August 2024: 20 appearances, five goals. In 2025 he moved to Waasland-Beveren in the Belgian Challenger Pro League for an undisclosed fee, and has since made 32 appearances and scored seven goals. The club won the Challenger Pro League title in 2025–26.

Born in Groningen, Margaritha plays internationally for Curaçao, making his debut on 7 September 2023. He scored four in a single month in November 2024. By June 2026 he had 24 caps and five goals.
