About the player
Juan Carlos Pineda Torres, known throughout his career as Juanca Pineda, came through Getafe's academy and then spent the best part of five seasons working through Spain's lower divisions — Torrijos, Mirandés B, Burgos Promesas, Unión Adarve and Guadalajara — before a move abroad gave him a settled first-team platform.
That platform was Beroe, in Bulgaria, where he arrived in 2024 and wore the number 17 shirt. Two seasons in the Beroe midfield followed, and in June 2026 he moved on again, this time to Sheriff Tiraspol in Moldova, switching to the number 7.
Born in Azua, in the Dominican Republic, Pineda holds dual Dominican and Spanish nationality, having been naturalised in Spain. He chose to represent the Dominican Republic rather than his adopted country, and it took until January 2021 for him to get over the line for a first senior cap, away to Serbia. Nineteen appearances have followed since, without a goal, including qualifying matches for the 2026 World Cup, the Concacaf Nations League and last year's Gold Cup. Before that, he had already come through the Dominican Republic's youth sides, scoring three times in five games at Under-20 level at the Concacaf U-20 championship and adding three further caps at Under-23 level during Olympic qualifying.
