John Mary

The season that made John Mary's name came in Slovenia. At NK Rudar Velenje he scored 26 goals in 46 appearances and finished the 2016–17 campaign as the top scorer in the Slovenian PrvaLiga — a return that came after his first spell at Vojvodina had produced a single league appearance and a terminated contract.

China followed, and the scoring did not stop. At Meizhou Hakka from January 2018 he put away 36 goals in 43 matches and took the China League One top-scorer award in 2018. Shenzhen FC signed him in July 2019; he scored 20 in 32 there before a 2021 loan to Avispa Fukuoka, where he made 16 appearances and scored five.

Mary was born in Nnobi, in Nigeria's Anambra State, and moved to Cameroon as a boy to join the youth side at AS Fortuna. He was later naturalised as a Cameroonian citizen and has represented the country: the under-20 team in 2011, then a senior debut on 6 September 2021 in a World Cup qualifier against Ivory Coast.

Six appearances at Al-Shabab in Saudi Arabia in 2022, nine on his return to Fukuoka, then Turkey — seven goals in 16 games for Çaykur Rizespor, two in 12 for Manisa FK. A second stint at Meizhou Hakka brought six goals in 13 matches, and five in 12 followed at FK Novi Pazar from February 2025.

He came back to Vojvodina in July 2025, and stayed: 28 appearances, 24 of them in the league, and six goals. He left for FK Mladost Lučani on 1 July 2026.
