About the player
Juan Montoya began his career in the youth ranks of Leones FC, joining the club in April 2017 and staying with the Itagüí-based side through to 2025. In 2020 he was part of the squad that won the Categoría Primera B title, Colombia's second tier.
That growing workload eventually pointed clubs elsewhere towards him, and in July 2025 he moved to Envigado FC on loan, a spell in which he made 18 appearances before his loan spell was due to end in June 2026.
Rather than settling back in at Leones, Montoya was sent out again on loan in July 2026, this time to América de Cali, where he is contracted until June 2027.
He has yet to be called up by the Colombian national team, and his career so far has been built entirely domestically.
