Omar Bertel

Omar Bertel spent seven years working his way through Millonarios' youth system before he ever started a league match for the club. He arrived for a trial in Bogotá in 2013 as a 16-year-old from Montelibano, scored and set up a goal in the session, and signed on with the academy in January 2014. It took until 2017, under coach Miguel Ángel Russo, for the left-back to make his first-team debut.

He stayed at Millonarios for the rest of the decade and beyond, eventually making 190 official appearances, with 3 goals and 14 assists to his name. Colombian outlets differ on the exact list of trophies he collected there, but he left with five titles credited to his time at the club, along with a place in the ACOLFUTPRO Team of the Year for 2022.

Bertel left Millonarios in December 2024 after nearly eleven years connected to the club, moving to América de Cali as a free agent on a three-year deal running to the end of 2027. Since arriving, he has made more than 60 appearances for América de Cali, still without a goal but with a couple of assists added to his tally.

He remains untested at international level — no call-ups to the Colombia squad appear on his record, and his file with the national team is blank.
