Juan Pablo Añor Acosta

Juanpi came through Málaga's reserve side, Atlético Malagueño, before earning a first-team place at Málaga itself. A loan spell at Huesca followed. In 2020, with Málaga in financial trouble, the club released him along with seven other players as part of a wider cost-cutting process.

The Venezuelan winger has since moved between continents, spending a season at Al-Ain in Saudi Arabia before returning home to Caracas. Two spells at the Venezuelan club bookended a stint in Greece with Panetolikos, and he later joined Volos NFC.

Añor has been part of the Venezuela national set-up since debuting against Chile in November 2014, going on to earn 28 caps. He featured at the 2016 Copa América Centenario, playing in the quarter-final against Argentina, and returned for a further appearance at the 2019 edition against Bolivia. His best-remembered moment in national colours came in September 2016, when he scored against Argentina in a 2018 World Cup qualifier that finished 2-2 — becoming only the eighth Venezuelan to find the net against that opponent.

His career has not been without setbacks. In 2016 he underwent surgery to repair a groin injury, a procedure that threatened to rule him out for the remainder of that season.
