About the player
In August 2023 Kristófer Ingi Kristinsson came home a free agent, and the season that followed put him inside a piece of Icelandic football history: Breidablik became the first club from Iceland to reach the group stage of the UEFA Conference League, with Kristinsson part of the squad. By mid-2024 he had 56 league appearances and 20 goals for the club.
The route out had started at Stjarnan, where he came through the academy and made his first-team debut in 2015. A year later, on 12 July 2016, he joined Willem II in the Netherlands for an undisclosed fee. Three seasons there brought an Eredivisie debut in February 2018.
The loan to Jong PSV in 2020/21 gave him the run of games he had been short of. Playing in the Eerste Divisie, he finished as the team's top scorer with eight goals in 32 matches.
A spell in France with Grenoble Foot 38 was followed by a move to Denmark, and in September 2022 that contract was terminated by mutual consent. On 5 September 2022 he signed for VVV-Venlo, again as a free agent, before returning to Iceland the following summer.
He has represented Iceland at every youth level from U-15 upwards. In 2014, with the U-17 side, he took a bronze medal at the Youth Olympic Games. Seven caps followed at U-21 level.
