About the player
Kevin Vázquez spent nine seasons at Celta de Vigo B, from his arrival in the academy in 2009 until 2018, and left as the player with more appearances than anyone else in the team's history: 161 in the league, 173 in all. Those years were played out in Segunda División B and Tercera División, and he was never sent out on loan.
The promotion came in July 2018, and his professional debut followed that October. Over six seasons Vázquez made 68 league appearances for Celta de Vigo and wore the captain's armband. The club terminated his contract in August 2024.
Days later, on 28 August, he signed for Sporting Gijón on a free transfer on a two-year deal running to 30 June 2026. He made 35 league appearances in Asturias. In June 2026 the club said the contract would not be renewed, part of a wider restructuring of the squad.
A right-back by preference, right-footed, he came out of Nigrán in Pontevedra. There are no senior caps for Spain on his record and no individual or team honours. His one representative appearance came in 2024, for the Galicia side.
