About the player
A season and a half in Israel gave Kiko Bondoso the Israeli championship and the Toto Cup in 2023/24. Signed by Maccabi Tel Aviv in 2023 for a fee of around €1m, according to O Jogo, the winger won the Israeli championship and the Toto Cup in 2023/24 — while playing 13 league matches for the first team and scoring once.
The route there ran through the lower reaches of Portuguese football. Bondoso came up in the academy of his home-town club, Moimenta da Beira, with a year at Académico de Viseu in between, and signed his first professional contract at Moimenta in 2013. He stayed four years: 114 matches, 19 goals. A season at Ferreira de Aves brought 9 goals in 30 games, and a season at Lusitano FCV another 7 in 33 — enough to earn a move to Vizela in 2019.
In 2024 he returned to Portugal on loan at Rio Ave, where he played 28 matches and scored twice, and the following summer he left Israel for good. Moreirense signed him in the summer of 2025 on a two-year deal.
The goals have not followed. He holds no individual awards and has never been called up to the senior Portugal squad.
