About the player
Lewis Morgan's most recent involvement with Scotland's senior side is also its briefest: he came off the bench in the 89th minute against Hungary at Euro 2024. It capped a rise that began far from a major finals, on the youth pitches of St Mirren.
Morgan came through the St Mirren academy and signed his first professional contract in 2013, going on to help the club win the Scottish Championship in 2017/18. At Celtic he scored in the Europa League against Rennes and started the 2018/19 League Cup final victory over Rangers. A loan spell at Sunderland followed in the first half of 2019.
In January 2020 Morgan left for Major League Soccer, joining Inter Miami CF. In 2024 he was named MLS Comeback Player of the Year.
Morgan has represented Scotland at senior level since 2018 and was called into the Nations League squad in September 2024 for matches against Poland and Portugal. San Diego FC signed him from the Red Bulls in December 2025 ahead of the 2026 season.
