Mijaíl Alexander Avilés Flores

On 10 March 2021 Mijaíl Avilés was captain of Independiente Petrolero when the club's players struck over the FABOL union dispute, and he refused to take the field. Club president Jenny Monaño sacked him publicly, on the spot. Talks followed, Avilés was restored to the squad, and shortly afterwards he scored his side's first goal in the match that carried them back into the Bolivian top flight — a 2-2 draw with Blooming.

The Venezuelan, who also holds Bolivian citizenship, had taken a long route to that moment. He turned professional with Deportivo La Guaira in 2009 and stayed five years, making 83 appearances and scoring three goals. What followed was a run of short stops at home: Carabobo, Estudiantes de Caracas, Monagas, Universidad Central and Metropolitanos, none of them lasting much beyond a season.

Bolivia changed that. He joined CD Universitario San Francisco Xavier in 2018 and settled, and after moving to Independiente Petrolero in October 2020 he became captain and a fixture in the side, playing 65 matches and scoring four goals across his time there.

Avilés signed for Real Tomayapo as a free agent in February 2024 and made the club his longest stay since La Guaira: 67 appearances, one goal. He also featured in the 2024 Copa Sudamericana group stage, coming on against Internacional and Delfín SC. In January 2026 he left for Gualberto Villarroel San José.
