About the player
Herwerth came in Indonesia, where he was a fixture of the Germany side that won the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup. Wearing number 8, he started all five matches — against New Zealand, Venezuela, the United States, Spain and France — and picked up a single yellow card along the way.
The defender came through Stuttgarter Kickers' youth system before moving across the city to join the VfB Stuttgart academy in July 2022. He made his senior debut for Stuttgart II in the 2024/2025 season, and the club rewarded his development with a contract extension, signed in March 2024, that runs until 2027.
At 191cm, Herwerth is a centre-back who now wears number 4 for Stuttgart's second team in the 3. Liga. He has not yet featured for the Bundesliga side, but his performances for Stuttgart II and his role in Germany's World Cup-winning youth side have pushed his market value up towards the €800,000 mark.
