Óscar Ramón Ruiz Roa

The move that shaped Óscar Ruiz's career was the one to Cerro Porteño in 2017. He arrived from Deportivo Capiatá and stayed four years, scoring 35 goals in 146 appearances — a return that made him one of the club's most prolific scorers over that spell. He won the Paraguayan Primera División twice while he was there, in the 2017 Clausura and the 2020 Apertura.

Before that, the path had been a restless one. He came through the youth system at Libertad from 2005 and made his senior debut for the club in 2010, but the years that followed were spent moving: General Caballero ZC in 2011, Guaraní and Rubio Ñú in 2012, then Deportivo Capiatá from 2013. A return to Libertad in 2015 lasted only as long as it took to send him out on loan to Sportivo Luqueño, where he made 25 appearances and scored three goals.

Brazil came next. In March 2021 he joined Bahia, who paid around $400,000 for 50% of his economic rights, and he won the Copa do Nordeste with them that year. A loan spell at Juventude in 2022 brought six goals in 26 appearances. Bahia released him, and he signed for Tacuary in December 2022 before moving to Grêmio Novorizontino in July 2024.

His international record is short: two caps for Paraguay between 2014 and 2015, the first of them in a friendly against Peru in November 2014. He had earlier played at U-17 and U-20 level.

In December 2025 he came back to Sportivo Luqueño.
