Oscar Taty Maritu

Oscar Taty Maritu built his reputation in China's second tier before a big-money move took him into the top flight. He arrived at Yanbian Funde in 2018 and scored 10 goals in 15 appearances, a return that marked him out immediately. When the club went bankrupt, he moved on a free transfer to Shaanxi Chang'an Athletic, where he had his best individual season: 22 goals that made him the China League One top scorer in 2019.

That form earned him a switch to Cangzhou Mighty Lions in February 2020, for a fee of around €3.9 million, a substantial outlay for a player still establishing himself. He stayed there through the 2021 season, in which he finished as the Chinese FA Cup's top scorer, and remained with the club until 2024. His scoring touch resurfaced again in April 2026, when he was named joint-top scorer in the Chinese Super League.

In February 2025, Maritu joined Yunnan Yukun on a free transfer, taking his goal-scoring record into a new club at a stage of his career where his output had already been proven at multiple levels of Chinese football. The move continued a pattern that has defined him since his first season in the country: whichever level he plays at, he tends to finish among its top scorers.
