Ondřej Mihálik

Ondřej Mihálik came through the Jablonec system and made his mark there before AZ Alkmaar paid €1.5m for him in January 2018. It did not work out on the pitch in Alkmaar — two appearances for the first team — and he built his form instead with the reserves, Jong AZ, before a loan to Viktoria Plzeň in 2019/20 gave him regular first-team football again. Plzeň liked what they saw and bought him outright for €0.85m in June 2020, but a single season under contract yielded just six appearances, and he was sent out again, this time to Dynamo České Budějovice.

The turn in his career came at 1. FC Slovácko, where he joined on a free transfer in July 2022. Across two seasons there he became a regular for the first team, while also featuring for the club's reserve side in the third tier. That run of form persuaded Hradec Králové to sign him on a free transfer in June 2024, on a contract running to 2029. He has since established himself as a scoring threat for the club.

Mihálik has never played for the senior Czech national side, though he was a regular presence in the youth setup. A Czech championship medal has so far eluded him — Viktoria Plzeň won the title the season after he left for České Budějovice on loan, a trophy he watched from outside the squad that lifted it.
