Onni Valakari

Onni Valakari 's first cap for Finland's senior national team was also a scoring one. He made his debut on 11 November 2020, against France, and found the net in that match. He has since gone on to earn 15 caps and one goal for Finland, born in Motherwell, Scotland, though he has represented Finland at international level throughout his career.

Valakari came up through the academy of SJK, playing for the club's reserve side, SJK II, before moving to Turun Palloseura in 2017, with a loan spell that year at Salon Palloilijat. He won the Finnish second tier, the Ykkösliiga, with TPS in 2017. In August 2018 he left Finland for Norway's Tromsø IL. In January 2020 he moved on to Cyprus, joining Pafos FC, with whom he won the Cypriot Cup in the 2023/24 season. A loan spell at Sweden's AIK followed in 2024.

He made an immediate mark in his first season, playing 42 matches and scoring seven goals across all competitions, and San Diego FC activated the buy option in January 2026.

In 2024, Valakari was fined for failing to report for military service in Finland on time; he began his service in 2025.
