About the player
Deep into stoppage time against Maccabi Haifa in the UEFA Conference League qualifiers last August, Péter Baráth found the equaliser for Raków Częstochowa. It was the kind of moment that travels.
The route there ran through the Hungarian lower divisions. Baráth came up in the youth ranks at Kisvárda FC before moving to the Debreceni VSC academy in 2016, and made his senior debut in the 2019–20 season. He stayed four years, 76 league appearances and nine goals, and won the Nemzeti Bajnokság II with Debrecen in 2020–21.
Ferencvárosi TC took him in February 2023 on loan with an option to buy, exercised permanently that June. He was part of the squad that won the Nemzeti Bajnokság I in 2022–23. The stay was short: in January 2024 Raków Częstochowa took him on loan, and the Polish club made the deal permanent in July 2025.
He has four caps for the senior Hungary side. His right foot and 185 cm frame put him in the holding role, though the goal return at Debrecen suggests a player who has never been anchored entirely to it.
At Sigma Olomouc, sporting director Pavel Hapal called him a key player and said he is expected to start immediately.
