About the player
At Bodø/Glimt, Philip Zinckernagel became known as the "King of Assists." In 2020 he was named the Eliteserien's player of the year and finished the league's top provider with 18 assists, a run that turned a winger who had come through spells at second-tier and provincial Danish clubs into a prominent figure in the league.
He started out in the academy at FC København before moving through FC Nordsjælland, HB Køge, FC Helsingør and Sønderjyske as he built his career. The move to Bodø/Glimt in 2018 changed the trajectory of that career, and his form there earned him a transfer to England with Watford in 2021, followed by a loan spell at Nottingham Forest. From there he went to Olympiacos in Greece and then to Club Brugge in Belgium, returning to Bodø/Glimt on loan in 2024.
In January 2025, Zinckernagel signed for Chicago Fire from Club Brugge for a fee in the region of €850,000, taking the number 11 shirt. His first season in Major League Soccer stood out: he became the first player in Chicago Fire's history to reach 10 goals and 10 assists in a single regular season. That season also brought selection for the MLS All-Star Game, a distinction he repeated in 2026.
