About the player
Torstein Bjartarson Østergaard is a Faroese defender who now plays for the Chinese club Dalian Zhixing, wearing the number five shirt. He made the move to China.
He has made 12 appearances for Dalian Zhixing so far. There is no lengthy list of transfers behind him, and no attached transfer fees or run of previous clubs beyond Hoyvík.
Østergaard represents the Faroe Islands, though his senior caps and goals for the national side are not part of the picture here. What stands out instead is the route itself: a defender leaving a small Faroese club and landing at a professional side in China, still building out his career.
